Tap

Tap dancing began in the late 1800's in African-American communities of the USA and has been one of the worlds most popular dance styles ever since. Groups including the tap dogs, boot men and stomp have greatly increased the popularity of the style in the past decade or so, following in the footsteps of legendary tap masters Gregory Hines and Bill "Bojangles" Robinson. Tap is an excellent dance style for developing musicality, rhythm, co-ordination and timing.

ASA Acting, Event & Television Presentation (Hosting) Classes

DANCE COMPETITION PREPARATION

The ASA has a great reputation for providing exceptional competition preparation classes and can assist those students with a strong desire to compete to get the best out of every performance.
ASA students have always performed extremely well in dance competitions over the past 7 years and have achieved fantastic results. A philosophy taught and practiced at the school is to always do your very best and have fun at the same time - whether you win or lose - gain everything you can from each and every experience.
We believe this to be one of the main reasons ASA students have been so successful in their chosen performing arts field.

Many talented ASA students appear regularly on the schools very own top rating national television production Jamie Redfern Presents. Students who would like the opportunity to join the current cast line-up are encouraged to enquire about an audition time with Jamie. The weekly television focused training class concentrates on teaching ASA students secret techniques and performance methods used in the world of television today and culminates in a number of fantastic one hour TV specials aired throughout the year on the Foxtel network.

ASA PERFORMANCE GROUP TRAINING

Australian Showbusiness Academy students who show great performing arts potential as well as pride and commitment to their performing arts studies are encouraged to audition at the beginning and end of each year for the ASA performance groups. The performance groups are available in Junior, Pre-teen and Teen levels. The fantastic performance class on offer is in relation to performance training only and is aligned to our very own exclusive agency Jamie Redfern Talent Management. Students of the class study a high level of performance skills and then showcase the skills they have learned at events around Melbourne. Most of the costuming is supplied by the ASA - whilst some of the costuming is fundraised for. The performance groups are a wonderful asset to the ASA and are an integral part of the ASA Marketing and Promotions team. We encourage everyone at the ASA to support the fine work our performance groups do in representing the ASA at events around Melbourne.
